“Somehow, at the start of the eighth grade school year, I got a popular pretty girl Molly Sanders to go out with me.  She was a smart kid, a good kid.  She had clear braces, which were hot.  Everyone wanted clear braces.  She rocked an Esprit bag at school too, which was key.  I don’t remember how it happened, or who asked who out.  I also never knew why Molly wanted to date a loser skater like me.  Maybe she was trying to piss off her parents or alienate her friends.  Maybe she actually liked loser skaters.  I couldn’t figure out why she liked me.  She was from the rich neighborhood and I was from the poor neighborhood.  She got good grades.  I got bad grades.  She was popular.  I was unpopular.  It didn’t make much sense to me…”
