Rabbit Hole

As I was about to descend into the rabbit hole of building my current stock 3.6L engine, a special car appeared on the RMC Miami Instagram: The car was a factory sunroof-delete 1993 964 Turbo, that seemed to check all of the boxes: Recently imported from Japan, MoTec controlled 3.8L twin-plug motor, the infamous HKS T51r Turbo, making a maniacal 650+ HP. While in Japan the car ran a 10.3 second quarter mile and sustained speeds over 200mp/h.
My excitement was unmatched when we struck a deal to trade my 964 C4 towards the car, eventually peaking the night it was delivered. There was now only one issue… the fully built, open-loop tune couldn’t adjust for the Wasatch Mountain altitude of the Salt Lake City. My new 911 barely ran down the street. As it limped into my garage, buyers' remorse started to set in.
