The Art Of the GetAway

Words and images: Kirsten Seydoux

I’m interested in the intersection of self-expression and metal;
the relationship between the driver and car, the personal attachments and ambitions, serial numbers on the glass, the texture of the seatbelt, the music played on a long drive home and the scratch that only you can see.

My artwork sees cars as personal and cultural heirlooms—iconic pairings of human and machine, preserved in a graphite hyperreality.  I like drawing cars with good driver stories, true and fictional—and immortalizing all their grit, glamour and scratches on paper.
